Set in the heart of a one acre orchard is a unique architect designed eco barn, surrounded by trees and gardens. This is a not-for-profit run property that focuses on gardening and nature to improve mental and physical wellbeing, and as such is beautiful as well as mindful.  

The building itself is a large light space which has been built using almost exclusively natural materials above ground level, including hempcrete walls, oak cladding and an unfired clay floor which was sourced and prepared within 10 miles of the site. The oak cladding is particularly beautiful, as are the large windows framing the gardens outside.

The barn has a full teaching kitchen with 3 ovens suitable for professional use, so would be wonderful for cookery workshops, and the space would be also great for yoga, writing or wellness. Eco or heritage brands would work well here and in the surrounding gardens which contain a carefully curated plant library of over 1500 herbaceous perennials, planted in sand and green waste.

The gardens here are truly the star and the thought that has been put into creating them really shines through, with stunning areas, carefully designed and tended to by the community that use them  - fostering the understanding that working with nature can radically transform people’s health and wellbeing and fostering community inclusion through gardening and other forms of creativity.
