Stapolian
An exceptional Victorian Hampshire estate with original stables, barns, outbuildings and walled gardens
Period features, Victorian, walled gardens, private woodlands, fields, renovated barns and outbuildings, barns, stables, livestock, horses,. Located 11 miles from Salisbury.
Set in 2500 acres of beautiful Hampshire countryside, in the Neolithic landscape, this exceptional Victorian estate is unspoiled and almost untouched by modernity. It has everything a “modern” Victorian could have wanted on their estate, and is a wonderful time-capsule that would suit any countryside brand for photoshoots, and would be fabulous or authentic filming. There is events space and accommodation also available, along with private roads, rare breed sheep and horses and an organic working farm.
The buildings include Victorian farmhouse and estate cottages, all built in traditional red brick and flint, and incorporating all the period features you should expect. There are barns for use as event space or workshops, along with smaller outbuildings, some hovering on saddle stones, a beautiful courtyard around the exceptional stable block, which retains its original floors and internal wood partitions. Victorian potting sheds and glass houses also remain. Accommodation is in various converted barns and also in shepherds huts, complete with hot tubs.
Outside the vast estate sports beautiful Redland trees, parkland, woodlands, meadows, grazing fields, paddocks and more. The start of the show is the huge brick and flint walled garden, with secret doors leading to pretty orchards, kitchen gardens, formal gardens and incredible pool which is about to be renovated.
This is a huge estate with so much potential, and teams with animals, both domesticated and wild and would be an amazing venue for wildlife photography or art, with plenty of space for workshops of this kind, as well as wellness retreats.
Stapolian also offers accommodation for brand shoot and stays or retreats.
History and special interest
Despite being mainly Victorian in era this wonderful estate shows signs of human habitation for thousands of years, with several long and round barrows on the land, as well as wonderful archaeological finds in recent years.
The land is farmed organically and regeneratively, and aside from arable and re-wilded areas, the farm runs around 500 head of sheep and 600 cattle that graze extensively on managed herbal Ley pastures across the ancient chalk downland landscape.
They are caretakers of an award-winning flock of Hampshire Down Sheep and the oldest Cleveland Bay Stud in the World; both rare and endangered native breeds.
