Stanhof

An attractive stone built Oxfordshire manor with wonderful gardens, farmland and moat

Period features, stone built manor, manicured gardens, moat, walled garden, greenhouse, potting shed, ponds, farmland and terraces. Located 20 miles from Oxford.

Stanhof is an enchanting warm stone manor house approached by a sweeping gravel drive. The elegant façade is hung with creepers which romantically wind round the stone mullion windows and stone entranceway.

The family are happy to offer the formal rooms in the house for brand shoots and filming, these include a wonderful entrance hall, dining room and drawing room, conservatory and bedroom suite. The bathroom is wonderful with free standing bath and pretty wallpaper creating a luxurious feel. All are tastefully decorated with antiques and oil paintings. There is also a useful modern space for cast and crew.

Outdoors, this property shines with 3 idyllic acres of formal gardens surrounded by a reflective 500-year-old moat. Interesting spaces here include walled gardens, a 50-foot willow tunnel, a stunning rose garden, and yew arch and bridge. There is also a wonderful conservatory / potting room, summer house and Victorian greenhouse. Paths weave between these different areas and around the woodlands and lawns and to medieval carp ponds now filled with water lilies. The family planted interesting and beautiful specimen trees which are now resplendent. The scope for any brand shoot or family shoot here is tremendous, as well as lending itself well for filming.

The farmlands include arable fields and water meadows teeming with animals, plants and birds alongside acres of wildflower meadow and a small lake with swans, ducks, geese and otters. The estate is run with sustainability and conservation at its centre creating a haven for wildlife.

There is an estate cottage available for accommodation subject to availability.

History and special interest

Stanhof has a fascinating history dating back to the 1200s with links to the Knights Templar and documented usage from this era to present day. The house and gardens have evolved architecturally over the years, with much of the Tudor and medieval house still present alongside later additions.

It is Grade II* listed. The manor and farmland has been with the current family for over a century.
