Rumness
A large manorial estate in Herefordshire with extensive gardens, land and outbuildings
Period features, manor house, beautiful gardens, private woodlands, fields, renovated barns and outbuildings, pond, and walled garden. Located 10 miles from Hereford.
The current house at Rumness has been in place for over 900 years, with additions made to it over time including barns and outhouses, providing a range of backdrops from grand to rustic. Rumness has everything you could ask for in a country estate – a grand and characterful house, stunning grounds, and a plethora of useful barns and outbuildings, including a converted coach house, tithe barn, and summerhouse.
With large stone fireplaces, beams and stucco ceilings, the interior of the house has many historical features, which have been sympathetically restored. In its current incarnation as an exclusive use country house, elements such as bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces have been modernised but with more than a nod to the past.
Antique furniture and paintings mix with contemporary lighting and artwork. The overall effect is one of an elegant but comfortable manor house, which would suit any brand shoot, or be wonderful for any retreat, with a purpose built bar area and full professional kitchen, as well as the country kitchen available.
Outside the gardens are ideal for shoots - a woodland, a walled garden filled with wild flowers in summer, an orchard, walled kitchen garden, lawns, a summerhouse, a rose garden with formal paths, a sundial, a pizza oven, a stone terrace.
The tithe barn, an Italianate loggia and fold yard, working style barns, a paddock and farmed fields. The property is not overlooked and the south facing gardens have no buildings in sight.
Rumness has beautiful accommodation for brand shoot and stays or retreats, with 9 bedrooms in the main house and the three-bedroom coach house.
History and special interest
Rumness is a stunning Grade II* listed country house in Herefordshire. With a listing in the Doomsday book and an initial incarnation as a priory, it has been added to over the centuries to form the amazing estate as it stands today.
