Eadgifu

A wonderful ancient Bedfordshire farm with farm buildings, barns and 12th century church

Period features, cottages, unconverted traditional barns, converted great barn, 12th century church (deconsecrated and interior available to hire separately), fields, woodlands and arable land. Located 15 miles from Bedford.

Eadgifu is a gorgeous working farm on an ancient Doomsday estate set in some stunning countryside, with beautiful mature trees, sweeping gravel drives and a beautifully maintained courtyard of houses and barns.

It comprises of; the manor house  - originally from the 1600s, which was remodelled in the 17th and 19th centuries and is very attractive with its timber frame and with rough cast render and clay tile roofs, the later block is brick with hipped slate roofs. There is also a farm cottage with substantial timber frame structure to the upper part, with the ground floor rebuilt in pretty mottled red brick.

The large barn is from the 1700s and has a stunning timber frame, with weather boarded exterior and half-hipped corrugated iron roof. It would be great for filming or as a large space for cast and crew.

The small barn or granary barn has original 17th-century timbers exposed and is restored to its former glory and as such would be wonderful for any workshops or wellness events, and has toilets, catering area, heating and air conditioning, Wifi etc.

There are also some other traditional barns, unconverted and in original condition.

On the manor lands there is the incredible little 12th century church – the exterior is maintained by the estate and would be a wonderful backdrop or engagement shoots and brands. The church is deconsecrated and the interior is also available for hire, but is owned by a conservation trust and as such has to be by separate negotiation to the rest of the farm. .

All the buildings in the courtyard have wonderful field, church, and woodland views over the 300ha of farmland, arable and environmental areas. There are also extensive gardens with mature trees and a walled garden, flower fields (lavender, sunflowers) paddocks and meadows. Wonderful paths and private roads wind through the wildlife filled meadows – suitable for any shoots.

The owners can help with catering on request.
