Beretun
A brilliantly converted courtyard of Victorian barns in Herefordshire
Period features combined with modern touches and luxury in a rural location. Located 13 miles from Hay on Wye.
Beretun is a recently transformed complex of beautifully and thoughtfully converted barns in a rural location in the Herefordshire countryside. The space comprises of the The Old Mill, Hayloft, Byre, Stables and Granary.
This is a large conversion with 20 bedrooms and bathrooms, and is as such incredibly versatile and would suit any lifestyle brands and large shoot and stays, as well as being wonderful for retreats and film production.
Inside the aesthetic is countryside-modern, with period features such as exposed stone and brick walls, flagstone floors, and large bright glass filled spaces. The owners have designed and dressed this space beautifully. Of particular note is a wonderful 65ft open plan kitchen and dining room, with large bi-folding doors out to the south facing grassed courtyard, this large kitchen has a 5 oven Aga, traditional wood units with butler sink, large island and stone flooring and would be fantastic for cookery workshops and filming.
There are also beautiful kitchens and bathrooms in the other barns. The bedrooms are large and airy and beautifully furnished. Any Yoga retreat or wellness retreat would be fabulous here.
Throughout the interiors you can see the dedication to detail that has been put into these spaces, all have exposed wood, stone and brickwork, fireplaces have cosy woodburners, furnishings are a mixture of vintage, reclaimed, handmade and re-upholstered furniture mixed with contemporary pieces and curated artwork.
Outdoors, the courtyard shows off the beautiful Victorian barns to wonderful effect. There is a large grassed area in the centre, with mature trees and hot tub, there are sizable patio areas for outdoor dining and relaxing with potted shrubs – a wonderful black canvas for garden brands and homewares, as well as a gorgeous outdoor space for retreats and workshops.
History and special interest
The barns were built in the late 1800s and are Grade II listed. The thoughtful conversion has made use of all the original features such as large barn doors and windows as well as retaining features like the brick threshing barn walls and farm machinery. This property is in original family ownership through three generations.
