Beacenstan

A stunning Somerset Elizabethan Manor with extensive gardens, gatehouse, land, farm and barns

Period features, manicured gardens, historic woodlands, fields, renovated barns and gatehouse, organic farm. Located 8 miles from Taunton.

Nestled in rolling hills at the heart of 1500 acres of organic farmland, historic woodlands, parklands and gardens is this incredible heritage house, well worth of its Grade II* listing. Subject to extensive and sympathetic renovation in 2023 it is now a wonderful retreat. The scope here is endless with walled gardens, church, pasture, meadows and woods and all types of barns, outbuildings and estate cottages, as well as the main manor house itself.

Inside the house has incredible reception rooms, brilliant for any type of countryside brand, the fabulous billiard room would make for a fantastic drinks or menswear shoot, the drawing room and sitting rooms beautifully appointed and the dining hall grandly furnished with a huge table and sweeping staircase.

The house has period features throughout, warm wood panelling, leaded light stone mullion windows, stone carvings, open fires window seats and wooden floors. The 7 bedrooms are beautifully and neutrally decorated with lovely bathrooms. The kitchen is an absolute delight and would be a brilliant space for kitchenware shoots, workshops, and great for retreats with stone floors, large island and huge Le Canche cooker.

Outdoors, the scope is incredible: Beyond the formal walled gardens and parkland ancient woodlands band across the higher slopes of the estate, with smaller copses, spinnies and groves threading their way through the farmland. The woodlands are full of natural treasures, wildlife is abundant and it would be great for photography, writing or nature workshops as well as providing many different photoshoot opportunities over the whole estate. There would be something for any type of country brand here, and too many to list!

Beacenstan also offers plush, fully renovated accommodations for brand shoot and stays or retreats.

History and special interest

Beacenstan has been in the same family since 1791. Under its current stewardship it is managed holistically, the estate places nature, heritage and community at its core, with the organic farm, ancient woodlands and historic buildings creating a very special place.
